This version introduces pausing a puzzle to resume it at a later time, a first for the series, and it supports cross-platform cloud saves.
#Hexcells plus update#
A later update introduced pasting one or multiple seeds from the clipboard, for instance to play an interesting seed found by another player. Players can use a random seed or use the current date.
#Hexcells plus generator#
Next to the 36 levels it has a random puzzle generator based on a seed. The game incorporates the additional mechanics such as blue hexes with numbers and guides, and black hexes with question marks introduced in Hexcells Plus, with no new elements beyond that. Through math, deduction, exclusion, and uncovering the board from different directions, you need to reveal all hexes with as little mistakes as possible.

Each board contains a set number of blue hexagons shown in the top right corner. #Hexcells plus series#
So I'm just wondering what other people think of this series and if there's anything out there that's similar (especially in a more on-the-go format like iOS, which id prefer for a game like this).Description Hexcells Infinite is the third game in the ambient puzzle game series. If you make too many mistakes you won't gather enough resources to open up future levels, so you have to be careful. At almost 6 hours in I'm still not done because these puzzles are so tough. I played the original game and beat its 30-some levels in like 2 hours or so, then moved on to Hexcells Plus (the expansion). The result plays like a much more complex version of Minesweeper with a bit of Sudoku thrown in, but the game is absolutely devious. Matthew Browns sublime puzzlers are on the big grey store for £2 each, or the pair for £3.50. Includes 3 items: Hexcells, Hexcells Infinite, Hexcells Plus Package info. 20, 2014 If for some reason you were wanting to play Hexcells, because its the best new puzzle game this decade, but you couldnt bring yourself to do it without its being on Steam, all is now resolved. The game charges you with figuring out which hexagons on a map are blue and which aren't, and the way you figure it out is by looking at the numbers in corresponding cells and rows/columns. Hexcells is an ambient logic puzzle game for PC, Mac and Linux.

They were easy to initially dismiss because they're simple - the interface is minimalist enough that it could pass as an iPhone game (which, for some reason, it isn't).

The third in addition has a generator that can create random levels. The puzzles in Hexcells Plus are a bit harder than in Hexcells. All of them have a set number of purposefully designed levels.

Id recommend starting at the beginning for a gentle difficulty curve. At some point recently I saw the Hexcells game really cheap on steam and decided to give them a go, since I like puzzle games a lot and they had great reviews. Hexcells is the easiest, Infinite is the hardest.
